Footprint has been involved with the restoration of the Cotswold Canals (Thames & Severn and the Stroudwater Navigation) for many years as their restoration has continued. Early work was restricted to smaller sections of the canals, driven by pots of funding from a number of sources for different members of the Cotswold Canals Partnership
There was little opportunity to link the interpretation together along the entire 36 miles of the canals, until a major HLF funding award allowed the Cotswold Canals Partnership to proceed with their Phase 1a restoration – a major multi million pound scheme to restore 6 miles of canal between Stonehouse and Brimscombe, to a navigable state.
Footprint has now designed and delivered 20 interpretation panels as part of this scheme. We have also designed the fingerpost system to link to this and the logo and way markers for the Thames and Severn Way. We even created a new hand drawn font, based on historical leters used on milestones. http://www.cotswoldcanals.com/pages/posts/posts-and-information-boards-731.php
