Interpretation, orientation signage, logo design and leaflets for this very large park. Several site visits and client meetings were required to develop a good knowledge of the park – its layout, habitats, resources, amenities and how people used the park. The hub of the park is focused around a visitor centre, a number of playgrounds packed with equipment, high rope trail, crazy golf and pond.
This is just a fraction of the parks total area. Away from this area are numerous lakes, woodland, heath and meadows dotted with historic remnants of the areas industrial past.
The interpretation centred around two newly created trails – a heritage trail and a nature trail. Eighteen locations had been identified for interpretation panels. Building on the Town Council’s existing branding, a design and style was developed for the panels by Footprint. A new hand illustrated map for the whole park was created. Logos were designed for each of the trails. Each panel carried a stainless steel rubbing designed by Footprint.
The project grew with the design and supply of location signs and welcome signs and a leaflet for each of the trails.
